Arches, April 8-9

The concern for many with this trip was the weather. . . Weather that never materialized. Those who went were rewarded with nice weather, sparse tourists (in one fiery furnace group 20 cancelled because of the forecast), beautiful scenery and dry canyons.

Steve and Trent went down Thursday night in order to get in another full day of exploring. They tried two new canyons which apparently had terrible exit, which Steve hopes never to see again. As Steve put it; one was great the other canyon was of the devil.

The rest of us (Robert, Josh (who was sporting the new five tens), Guthrie and Gage (noobs)) showed up Friday night or early Saturday morning, joining up around 7 A.M. on the willow springs road.

First we did lomation which was beautiful.

After finishing the route, we headed back up to Krill.

The Legend

A side note...The night before Steve had watched the viral bed intruder song, then downloaded an app..."Hide your wife, hide your kids...you are sooo dumb" ( song, follow up interview), that was the theme of the day.

Finishing up

It was decided to do one more short route so we headed out to tier drop, steep initial climb, three raps.

Steep initial climb - Steve ran...

Second rap

We decided to anchor off a boulder instead of the small tree you can see in the background which they used the last time. Steve practiced with a prusik.

The final rap.

A great day...
